Command Center

  • Create a home command center that serves as the central information area for the family. A family calendar highlighting all appointments and other commitments helps everyone stay on the same page. Use a color coding system for different types of appointments for easy identification. Add a message center with a small notepad or a dry erase board. Train everyone in the family to check the location for important messages on a regular basis.

Information Book

  • Create a book that holds all important information in it. Keep the book in the family command center for easy access. Include information such as emergency contacts, insurance information, doctor contacts, medication information and other critical information. This book keeps all information in an organized, central location when you need it.

Daily Organizing

  • Pick a certain time of day to do a quick organization of the house. Pick up any stray items around the house and return them to their proper storage spots. Get the entire family involved in the organization. Designating a specific time gets everyone in the habit of the daily organization. Organizing after dinner or just before bedtime means you can wake up to a neat, organized home.
