Framing & Matting Cheaply

Before: Thrift Store Frames ($3-$5 a frame)

After: Norman Rockwell Art Wall

Close Up

Matted Norman Rockwell pics found online. Mat board (found at Michael's, Robert's Arts and Craft) $6 a sheet and can mat (2) 16"x20" frames..

You can save yourself a lot of time and money when you create your own art pieces. I'm not a fan of spending a large amount of money on something I know I'm going to change and want to have a little variety to in the future. My preference is clean and polished so I look for photos online and blow them up and create custom matts for each image. The process is fairly simply, you have to do a bit of math and be precise with your measurements and cutting. This was a helpful process I learned when we would do art installations at the gallery or my design projects for college.

Our home was built in 1952 and is a Cape Cod style which orginates from Massechussets, which tend to go for the cottage look. The paintings color work beautifully with color scheme I'm going towards with the room.
