The metallics and orange colored soda add a fun visual interest to the space that has a lot of classic traditional furniture lines.

The floor to ceiling curtains add drama and elongate the vertical length of the room. The color palette is a kept a simple neutral but the addition of colored accent pillows keep the room from becoming boring to the eye.

Our living room is getting some TLC right now. Its a big ticket expense with needing new furniture and it buts its coming together. Right now an art wall in the the works featuring the well known American artist Norman Rockwell which is pulling out some fanastic colors for me and adding some fun humor. Besides color remember to add to texture through accessories, throws, pillows drapes, rugs, etc. One aspect in designing a room is to keep it interesting and visaully leading your eye throughout a space. Texture is one way to subtly help aide in that process.

Including a mirror in a room also creates the illusion of more space in a room because of the light reflecting off it. This especially helpful in small rooms or even to use in hallways to help bounce light around in a space.
Lighting
Replacing lampshades is a cheap way to accent a room. Lighting is underestimated. Use plenty and use a variety to keep the lighting balanced throughout the room. Dimmers are a great way to help control lighting and the ambience of the room.
Tables
If your coffee table or end tables are looking tired, then repaint. Its simple, quick, and super inexpensive. Remember a pulled together look is in the details. Create a balance between angled hard lined furntiure and soft curved furniture pieces.
Rearrange the Furniture
Rearranging the furniture can give a fresh look to your room's layout. You do not have furniture glued to the walls, pull it away or create subtle angles. .
Natural Elements
Plants add freshness and impact to your room's décor. And, if placed strategically, they can hide flaws in a room. Flowers are a nice way to adds pops of color with still keeping the color options flexinle.
